There is also a courtesy bus that runs from Cleveland Rail Station to the ferry terminal. The Gold Cat Water Taxi goes to One Mile and connects with a bus service that goes straight to Amity Bungalows.

You will be posted a 10% discount for ferry service with your booking. Prices current from March 2007.

You don't need a 4WD to travel to North Stradbroke Island, there are good bitumen roads. Of course if you do have a 4WD you are able to travel along the beaches and explore the Island (permit required). Permits available from Caravan Park in Amity and the Amity Shop or Dunwich Tourist office.

Warning about hiring a 4WD or any cars from some of the major companies via the Brisbane Airport. We have had guests fly in from overseas (recently the UK) expecting to hire a car at the Brisbane Airport, however when they mention they are going to North Stradbroke Island, they have policies enforced that does not allow them to rent cars that are going offshore. You can obtain a hire car from the companies listed on this page.

If you are coming in from overseas and you do not hire a car, it is possible for you to catch public transport from the Brisbane Airport. This is quite an adventure in itself. From the Airport you catch the Airport train (Air Train) link to Brisbane Central, from there you catch a train to Cleveland, from there you catch a bus to the Gold Cat Water Taxi, when you get off the Water Taxi you catch another bus, right to Amity Bungalows front door. Check the bus timetables, not all buses connect to Amity Point. Buses with the A beside them go to Amity.
